PatientCare EMS Solutions has provided ambulance service in Pinellas County, Florida under the name Sunstar Paramedics since 2004. Sunstar is the exclusive ambulance provider in the Public Utility Model system, providing ALS 911 ambulance response and transport, ALS and BLS interfacility ambulance transportation, Critical Care Transport 911 and interfacility services and Mental Health Transport. Sunstar collaborates closely with 18 fire departments in and around Clearwater, FL to serve the nearly one million residents in the state’s most densely populated county. Our workforce of more than 730 dedicated employees and a fleet of over 100 state-of-the-art equipped ambulances transport nearly 200,000 patients per year.

Our ambulances are outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment including the Physio-Control LifePak 15 cardiac monitors with 12 Lead transmission, a QCPR measurement and feedback system, Stryker Power stretchers and the Stryker Power-Load system, and Samsara safety and driver monitoring system. We use Rugged Dell laptops for “Image Trend” electronic patient care reporting.

The Sunstar Emergency Communication Center is one of only a few dispatch centers in the world named as an Accredited Center of Excellence by the National Academies of Emergency Medical Dispatch for the 7th time. We use advanced computer-aided dispatch systems, GPS technology and system status management to cover all of Pinellas County quickly and effectively.
Our experienced staff of paramedics and emergency medical technicians/dispatchers oversees the operations of 95 ambulances and processes more than 500 calls per day.
