State-of-the-art devices support LifeCare EMS in efficiently and effectively providing patient care
Carthage, Miss. (Jan. 15, 2019) – LifeCare EMS, the 911 ambulance transport provider for six counties in central Mississippi, is investing in the care of patients in Leake, Winston, Newton, Scott, Noxubee and Kemper counties. LifeCare EMS is upgrading its on-board equipment to include LifePak 15 cardiac monitor defibrillators and installing a new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and electronic patient care reporting system.
LifeCare EMS emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics use the cardiac monitor defibrillators to detect hard-to-diagnose conditions and improve patient care with noninvasive monitoring of blood pressure and end-tidal carbon dioxide. The packs also continuously provide 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) monitoring, which can be transmitted to hospitals while the patient is en route, better preparing them for patient arrivals. The LifePaks will be in service in all ambulances by late January 2019.
The CAD system will be implemented in LifeCare EMS’ headquarters to streamline intake of emergency calls and dispatch by providing detailed mapping through GPS tracking and dispatch notes to efficiently deploy ambulances to emergencies. This change will result in reduced response times as LifeCare EMS’ dispatch center and crews will be able to communicate needed, life-saving information in real time. The installation of the CAD system will be complete in early 2019.
In conjunction with the new CAD, an electronic patient care records system, the ZOLL ePCR platform, will be installed on new Surface Pro tablets. This system will assist with workflow and be used to easily capture and manage patient data related to an emergency.
“These investments in technology allow LifeCare EMS to continue to provide the highest level of care for patients,” said Jerry Johnston, chief operating officer of LifeCare EMS. “We are continuously looking at new technology and tools that will benefit our community and the patients we serve.”
PatientCare Logistics Solutions, a leading provider of ground-based 911 emergency ambulance and other critical healthcare logistics services, acquired LifeCare EMS in September 2018.
